Why Do You Call Me Lord, Lord and Do Not Do What I Say

Many in the church today “talk about” being a warrior of the Lord but not many actually take
up their weapons of warfare and accomplish spiritual warfare!!!
Many in the church today are good talkers. They are able to talk about what spiritual
warfare is, they are able to talk about what the weapons of warfare are, but they do not pick
their weapons up and use them to accomplish spiritual warfare.
God isn’t interested in our TALK, He is interested in our DOING!!!
Talk is cheap. God is asking us who will step past talking and step into DOING. We must
begin to operate as true warriors of God and do the actual work of God and accomplish the
work of spiritual warfare.
We must choose to step past talk and do active spiritual warfare against the enemy and his
demonic forces in the spiritual realm.
Luke 6: 46 "Why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?
Jesus asks us in this scripture why do we “talk the talk” and not actually do what He says.
What are the works that Jesus said that we would do? Jesus said we would cast out
demons in His name. Jesus said we would lay hands on the sick and they would be
healed. Jesus said we would do the works that He did and we would even do greater works
than these.
These are the things that Jesus said for us His church to do. His question is still being
asked to us His church today, “Why do you not do what I say?”
Luke 6: 47- 48 "Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will
show you whom he is like: 48 he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a
foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and
could not shake it, because it had been well built.
We must HEAR HIS WORD and ACT ON HIS WORD. God is calling us His church to
actively work His works in the earth. God is calling us to step past just hearing the Word of
God. He is calling us to rise up as warriors and begin to DO and ACT on His Word. He is
calling us to action!!!
This scripture tells us that we are able to stand in the midst of any storm that satan sends
against us because we have not only heard the Word but we have learned to act upon it.
We have learned to accomplish and do spiritual warfare as His warriors. The storms sent
by satan shall not prevail against us.
Luke 8:22-23 Now on one of those days Jesus and His disciples got into a boat, and He
said to them, "Let us go over to the other side of the lake." So they launched out. 23 But as
they were sailing along He fell asleep; and a fierce gale of wind descended on the lake, and
they began to be swamped and to be in danger.
Jesus had a plan and a purpose for going to the other side of the lake. On the other side of
the lake was a man possessed with legion. Jesus was on a mission to do the work of God.
Satan sent a storm. This storm came to try to stop the work Jesus purposed to
accomplish. Storms come when we set our minds to do the works of God. Are we to stop
because the storm came?? Are we to cease from doing the works of God because we are
in the midst of a storm? Jesus did not!!
Luke 8:24 They came to Jesus and woke Him up, saying, "Master, Master, we are
perishing!" And He got up and rebuked the wind and the surging waves, and they stopped,
and it became calm.
Jesus rebuked the storm and the storm was quieted.
We are able to stand in the midst of any storm that satan sends against us if we act upon
His Word. We must do the work of spiritual warfare and rebuke the storm. When we do so
the storms sent by satan shall not prevail against us. They will not keep us from completing
the work of God.
Luke 6: 49 "But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who
built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and
immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great."
When the storm of satan comes against those who hear the Word and do not act upon it
their houses collapse and the ruin is great. Their houses collapse and their ruin is great
because they do not do what Jesus says. They do not rise up as warriors of God and
accomplish spiritual warfare.
What kept these from acting on the Word of God and being His warriors?
2Corinthians 10:4 (KJV) for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal
2Corinthians 10:4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh,
The Greek word translated for carnal means “pertaining to the flesh or fleshly”. To be God’
s warriors you MUST NOT BE CARNAL. To be God’s warriors you MUST NOT BE
OPERATING IN THE FLESH. These must step past flesh with its thinking and ways and
begin to act on the Word of God. They must begin to act on God’s Word and accomplish
spiritual warfare.
If those who heard and did not act upon the Word of God lay aside their flesh and act upon
the Word of God their houses will no longer be destroyed by the storms of satan.
2Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh,
Walk in the flesh in this scripture means we are human; we are made of flesh and blood.
We are not to war with fleshly weapons. We make war against the spiritual forces of
darkness in the heavenly places with spiritual weapons.
Do not try to fight in a spiritual battle with fleshly weapons. If you war with fleshly weapons
your house will collapse and the ruin will be great. Spiritual battles must be fought with
spiritual weapons.
Fleshly weapons of warfare have no effect on the devil. Fleshly weapons of warfare are of
no effect in the spiritual realm. Spiritual battles are not fought and won with fleshly
weapons. Spirit battles are fought and won with spiritual weapons of war.
Warriors who act and operate in spiritual warfare are weapons in God’s hands. God does
not use carnal or fleshly weapons!!! God’s weapons are not carnal and they are not of the
flesh. We must put away all carnality and all fleshly ways if we will be used of God as His
weapon.
Romans 8:7-8 (KJV) because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to
the Law of God, neither indeed can it be. 8 So then they who are in the flesh cannot please
God.
Romans 8:7 because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject
itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, 8 and those who are in the flesh
cannot please God.
God can not use us as warriors when we have a carnal mind. A canal mind is set on the
flesh. Carnal minds are hostile towards God. Carnal minds are not subject to God.
Jesus said, “Why do you call me Lord, Lord and do not do what I say?” To do what Jesus
says we must be subject to him. A carnal mind, a mind after the flesh, is not subject to
Jesus.
Those who do not put off their carnal mind cannot please God. They do not please God
because they are unable to do what He says. They are unable to do so because the carnal
mind is unable to subject itself to God.
1Corinthians 3:1 (KJV) And I, brothers, could not speak to you as to spiritual ones, but as
to fleshly, as to babes in Christ.
1Corinthians 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men
of flesh as to infants in Christ.
Carnal men or men of flesh can not be spoken to as spiritual men. I believe spiritual men
are those who do what Jesus says. I believe spiritual men are warriors who act upon God’s
Word and accomplish spiritual warfare.
Carnal man can not be used as warriors because God is unable to talk to them as spiritual
men. Carnal man is unable to obey and act upon God’s commands given in the Word.
They are unable to do what He says. They are unable to do so because they are not
subject to God.
Galatians 5:19-21 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity,
sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes,
dissensions, factions, 21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I
forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not
inherit the kingdom of God.
We must put off these deeds of the flesh, these deeds of carnality if we would be used as
God's warriors. We must put off these deeds if we would have God speak to us as spiritual
men.
John 6:63 It is the Spirit that makes alive, the flesh profits nothing.
Romans 8:12-13 So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live
according to the flesh 13 for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by
the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
The Word of God commands us to put to death the deeds of the flesh by the Spirit. The
Word of God also commands us to put the deeds of the flesh off. These are actions of
obedience on our part. These are actions of doing what Jesus says.
Ephesians 4:22-24 For you ought to put off the old man (according to your way of living
before) who is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of
your mind. 24 And you should put on the new man, who according to God was created in
righteousness and true holiness.
Colombians 3:8-10 But now also put off all these things: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy,
shameful speech out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, having put off the old man
with his deeds 10 and having put on the new, having been renewed in knowledge
according to the image of Him who created him,
1Peter 4:2 so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but
for the will of God.
Let us live to do the will of our God. Let us do what Jesus says. Let us move past talking
about spiritual warfare. Let us take up our weapons of warfare and accomplish spiritual
warfare. Let us be warriors who act and operate on the Word and command of God.
