Guarding the Word and the Revelation of the Word of God

We are called as Christians to guard the Word of God and to guard the revelations of His
Word which He has spoken to us.  We are to guard each of these without becoming
partakers of a religious spirit as we do so.

God gave me as His examples of guarding His Word and His revelation the two dogs my
family had as I was growing up.

We had one dog named Tippy.  She was a very loving and good natured dog.  You could
take the very food out of her mouth.  She would not bite you.  She would allow you to steal
her food away from her.

We had another dog was named Bouncy.  He was very loving and good natured till you tried
to touch his food.  We had to walk a wide path around him and his food bowl.  He would bite
if you came near it or tried to touch it.

God spoke to me the way we as Christians guard the Word and the revelations of God.  He
used these two dogs and the way they each guarded their food as His example to me.

The food of these two dogs represents the Word of God and His revelation to us.  God
spoke to me that neither Tippy nor Bouncy correctly guarded their food.  We as Christians
are often not correctly guarding God’s Word and His revelations given to us.

Some of us guard the Word and the revelations of God like Tippy guarded her food.  We
allow the Word of God and the revelations of God to be stolen from us.  We allow the Word
of God and His revelations to be stolen out of our very mouths.  We do not properly guard
the Word of God and His revelation.

When we allow the stealing away of our food which is the Word of God and His revelation
we then starve.    When we allow our food to be stolen, others to whom we were to impart
the Word and revelation of God to starve to death.

Tippys do not properly guard their food but allow the Word of God and His revelation to be
messed with.  Tippys allow others to do what they choose to with the Word God and His
revelation.  Tippys allow others to play with the Word and the revelation of God.  They can
stretch it and make the Word and revelation of God say any thing that they wish.  Tippys
allow others to do with the Word and revelation of God as they will.   Tippys do not guard
God’s Word and His revelation to them.  Their food dish is open to all.  Their food dish is not
guarded and protected.

Some of us guard the Word and the revelations of God like Bouncy.  We bite every time
anyone questions us on the Word of God and His revelation to us.

I admit I often find myself operating as a Bouncy.  God showed me my “biting” in my
reactions to Randy when he questions me on what God has shown me in the Word or by His
revelation.  God showed me how I bite Randy every time he questions what I tell him.  God
brought to my remembrance Randy’s words me, “You can’t stand to be questioned.”  I have
to admit Randy was right when he spoke those words to me.

This biting comes from a spirit of religion and a spirit of tradition.  This biting comes from an
extreme guarding of what we believe to be true.  “Don’t touch my sacred cow!”  “If you touch
I will bite!”  I often wanted to excuse this “biting” because I was a teacher by the calling of
God.  God told me my calling as a teacher does not give me excuse to bite

I thought in my biting I was correctly guarding the Word of God and His revelation.  God said
it was not so!!!

Neither those who guard the Word of God and His revelation as Tippy or as Bouncy guard it
correctly.

We are not to be as Bouncy and bite those who come to taste and see that the Lord is
good.  We are not to bite those who come with questions, needing to touch and feel the
Word of God and the revelation we speak.  W are not to bite those who come with sincere
questions seeking God and His truth.

We are not to be as Tippy and allow the stealing away of the Word of God and His
revelation.  We are not to be as Tippy and allow others to “mess in” the Word of God and
His revelation.  We are not to be as Tippy and not guard the Word of God and His revelation.

We are to correctly guard our food.  We are to correctly guard the Word of God and His
revelation which is given to us by Him.
